App: ShinySnap for Android and iPhone
Developer: Jens Förster
Contact: support@shinysnap.com
Effective: October 5th, 2026
Summary
ShinySnap has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. The camera, the scanner and your collection all stay on your device. On Android, the only personal data sent to us or to a service acting for us is what's needed to check a Pro purchase (see below). On iPhone, none is.
Camera
- The camera is only used to recognize cards.
- Frames are processed in memory on your device and discarded.
- Help improve scanning (Settings, off by default) is the only exception: it keeps a small photo of each card you save.
- These photos stay in the app's storage on your device and are deleted when you uninstall.
- They are left out of iCloud and Android backups.
- They reach anyone else only if you choose Save scan photos and share the file yourself.
Your collection
- Binders, cards, conditions and value history are stored on your device.
- If Android backup is on, Android backs them up to your own Google account under Google's terms. On iPhone, if iCloud Backup is on, iOS backs them up to your own iCloud under Apple's terms. We cannot access either backup.
- Backup and spreadsheet files are saved only where you choose.
- Share cards makes images or a text list on your device and hands them to the app you pick. We don't receive them.
Pro purchases
On Android:
- Google Play handles payment. We never see your name, email or payment details.
- To check whether you have Pro, the app uses RevenueCat (a payment-verification service acting for us). It receives a random app ID (not linked to your name or Google account), your Play purchase receipts and history, and your device's country, currency and language.
- This happens when the app starts and when you buy or restore. It is used only to unlock Pro.
- RevenueCat keeps these records so Pro can be restored. To have them deleted, email support@shinysnap.app with the order number from your Google Play receipt (it starts with "GPA.").
On iPhone:
- The App Store handles payment, and Pro is checked on your iPhone with Apple's StoreKit. No purchase data is sent to us or to RevenueCat.
Network requests
The app loads public data from these services. Like any website, they receive your IP address and the requested card or file, but no personal data from the app:
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| cdn.shinysnap.app (Cloudflare) | Daily price file (the app asks no other service for prices), a card's price history when you open it, card catalog updates |
| assets.tcgdex.net, images.pokemontcg.io, tcgplayer-cdn.tcgplayer.com | Card images |
| tcgplayer.com, cardmarket.com, ebay.com | Only when you tap a buy link; opens in your browser |
| api.revenuecat.com, Google Play (Android) | Checking and restoring Pro purchases (see above) |
| App Store (iPhone) | Buying and restoring Pro, run by Apple |
We keep no server logs of these requests. Cloudflare serves our files under its own privacy policy.
Your privacy rights
- We don't sell or share your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
- Apart from Pro purchase records on Android, we hold no personal data about you.
- To ask what we hold, or to have it corrected or deleted, email support@shinysnap.app. This includes requests under US state privacy laws such as California's (CCPA).
- The app doesn't track you across apps or websites, so Do Not Track signals have nothing to change.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 bought Pro and you want the purchase records deleted, email support@shinysnap.app.
